The National WWII Museum tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world, why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today, so that all generations will understand the price of freedom and be inspired by what they learn.

Designated by Congress as America’s National WWII Museum, the institution is dedicated to preserving the profound legacy of World War II and inspiring people of all ages to learn from its powerful lessons. Through stories of heroism, human tragedy, liberation, and the responsibility that comes with victory, the Museum seeks to deepen public understanding of this monumental global conflict.

The Museum continues to develop a world-class campus of immersive exhibits and pavilions that bring history to life. It also reaches audiences around the world by offering access to its collections, exhibits, and oral histories through digital outreach, distance learning, and innovative media, expanding global awareness of America’s role in the war and its relevance today.

As a place of reflection, learning, and national values, the Museum provides visitors with an opportunity to connect with the strengths and ideals that define America. It also serves as a catalyst for cultural tourism, supporting economic and community development in New Orleans and across Louisiana.

Through its mission and momentum, the Museum honors the past, educates the present, and inspires the future.
