Cologne in 1945

In 1942 the British Air-Marshal Arthur Harris attacked Cologne with all the aircraft that were at his disposal. For the Royal Air Force (RAF) and its Bomber Command "Operation Millennium" became a turning point in the Second World War. As Goebbels had announced that Cologne would be defended to the last man, many more attacks followed: 268 in total. 90% of the city center was completely destroyed by the end of the war.
