The Historical Collection of the Regiment Stoottroepen Prins Bernhard, commonly known as the Stoottroepen Museum, is located at the Johan Willem Friso Barracks in Assen.

This Historical Collection presents the history of the Stoottroepen, from the regiment’s origins within the resistance during the Second World War to the modern-day deployments of the Stoters as part of the Air Mobile Brigade. The collection moved from Ermelo to Assen in 1994 together with the Regiment Stoottroepen. At that time, it was still known as the “Tradition Room of the Regiment Stoottroepen.”

In 1997, a historic building at the Johan Willem Friso Barracks was thoroughly renovated, fully furnished, and prepared to serve as a museum. The museum officially opened on 21 September 1998. In later years, the exhibition was completely redesigned and organized into chronological sections. The exhibition now begins on the first floor with the Second World War, covering the German invasion, the occupation, and the resistance against the occupier. It also highlights the establishment of the Regiment Stoottroepen in September 1944 by the armed resistance in Brabant and Limburg. The regiment’s contributions in the Dutch East Indies (1946–1950) and New Guinea are also featured, as well as its role during the Cold War.

On the ground floor is the “Room of Silence,” where fallen Stoters are commemorated. This floor also includes exhibits dedicated to the disbanded 11 Mortar Company (2012) and the regiment’s deployments to Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Mali.
