##  Concrete memories

Born on August 23d 1922, in Dover New Hampshire, Wynn R. Campbell served in the United States Army from 1940 to 1945. He was in the third wave on Omaha Beach in Normandy, on the 6th of June 1944. Wynn manned a machine gun on his landing craft. Once on land, he got himself and his friends pinned down on the end of the beach by enemy machinegunfire. Wynn, with a friend, went around the Germans, started firing upon them, and kept them pinned down.

Wynn also fought in the front lines in the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes, Belgium. Surrounded by the enemy without knowing how long it would take for the reinforcements to arrive. Wynn despite the odds and his situation, held his position and kept his ground.

As a member of Patton's 3rd Army Wynn received the good conduct medal and the service medal for the European Theater Campaign ribbon.

Wynn was in Normandy - Nothern France, Ardennes - Belgium, Rhineland - Central Europe. After the war Wynn worked for a while in the Navy Yard.
