I wright this in the memory of my late father. Thank you to all the soldiers who have gave up their life so today we do not have to speak German. I salute all of you and yes A Thank You is not merely enough in my opinion for what you have done for all of us who do take the freedom for granted. May God Bless you and your families and those who you have to leave behind on Omaha Beach now resting not far from the beach.

Ashley Engleford

My name is Ashley Engleford and I am an American Freelance Writer & Amateur WWII Historian. I have created a blog dedicated to telling the war time experiences of the world's veterans and civilians who lived and served during the Second World War. I am beginning this week to write the stories of those I have interviewed over the past couple years and am reaching out to begin compiling more stories. Once I have enough stories, I will compile them into a book and hopefully have it published. Thanks for your time.

I am researching, trying to learn about my father and his military life. He was in the Army, 2nd Battalion Co G 104th Infantry. He won several medals I was unaware of like the Distinguished Service Cross, Purple Heart w/3 Oak Clusters, Silver Star and many more. I am trying to find out when and for what he was awarded these medals. Thank you for sharing this site.

I am so impressed with this site. It seems that there is an endless amount of information, pictures and personal accounts of D-Day and Normandy. I am the proud granddaughter of the late Major General Charles Chase, who served as Colonel Sink's XO in the 506th PIR of the 101st. I wish my grandpa were here today to recount his memories to his friends and family. I was too young to appreciate his legacy before he died. I am touched by the sacrifice all made to keep this world safe and free from Hitler's wrath. God Bless all who served and continue to serve the U.S.

I wish to thank all Allied soldiers who sacrificed and gave their lives, so we can live in freedom from tyranny and oppression.
I was born in Eindhoven Netherlands in 1965, Grew up listening to the stories of German occupation from my parents. We moved to Canada in 1972 for a better life in the land where our liberators come from. I thank you Canadian soldiers for our freedom and gratitude for the supreme sacrifice your soldiers gave for my Liberty. SALUTE

Thank you for a wonderful website full of fascinating stories. Preparing for a trip to France in Aug; I feverishly embarked upon fitting together the missing pieces of my Veteran father's experience in WWII. I know the campaigns and battles and am now searching for that final piece; another Veteran who served in the 69th Signal Battalion, XX Corp, 3rd Army. His records were destroyed in the fire but by way of the VA (a good route to take if records are destroyed because if a claim was ever made the VA would have papers on file to pay benefits) I was able to get his file. Anyone out there is served with Daniel Glick in the 69th sig bn? Anyone out there who served in a similar unit ?
I hope to make contact with someone any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
