My Dad, Ernest R. Klemm was trained at Camp Claiborne and served in WWII. He was in the 101st Airborne. My grandson is writing a paper for school on D-Day. I found a letter my Dad had written to his sister. It was dated May29th, 1945, somewhere in Germany. He states in his letter that he has been over a lot of country since arriving there. He was all over France, on the Normandy beaches on D-Day where he saw a lot of different things he never dreamed of seeing. He also says he had flown in to Holland by Glider on D-Day and saw a hell of a lot. Next was Bastone which was bad. He never really talked about all these things to any of us so after all the years to find letters written in his hand talking about the places we have heard about through the years from history is exciting.
